I have always been interested in the science of neurology, especially how specific processes are regulated and influenced by external stimuli. My bachelor’s thesis investigates how visual and olfactory stimuli affect neural activity in moths. For this, I use immunohistochemical staining of the protein ERK as a marker for brain region activation. This allows me to identify which brain regions respond to each type of stimulation. I find this topic particularly fascinating because it links molecular mechanisms with sensory processing and behavior.
